Parrish Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine Center provides patients with a therapeutic healing environment where they will receive treatment for their acute and chronic wounds. Our Parrish Wound Healing Center has been industry-recognized for excellence and continues to be a critical medical resource for our patients throughout Brevard County and beyond.
A chronic wound is any wound that has not healed within eight weeks or has shown no signs of healing in four weeks. There are various causes of chronic wounds, including diabetes, pressure, and circulation conditions.
An acute would is an injury to the skin that occurs suddenly rather than over time. Acute wounds heal at a predicable and expected rate of the normal wound healing process.
Treatment for acute and chronic wounds can vary based on a patient's age, health, and medical background. At the Parrish Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine Center, patients will have access to a multidisciplinary staff and various treatment options, including hyperbaric medicine.
With hyperbaric medicine, patients are placed in hyperbaric chambers where they are exposed to a greater concentration of oxygen—which promotes the healing process in the body. Breathing a higher concentration of oxygen than the normal atmosphere can help wounds heal faster.
